Updates:

8 October: Travel Inn adjacent to the venue has sold out, discounted rooms are no longer available anyway near. The other nearby PTI has rooms but at £49 prpn. There appear to be some cheaper rooms on offer in Broughty Ferry (3 miles away) and Carnoustie (5-6 miles). I have collected some basic info and contact info that you can download from www.dundee-congress.co.uk/B&B.doc, room prices £25-£40. The room prices are taken from their websites and I don't know about availability for our weekend, but if you need a room you can ask yourself. There are other B&Bs and hotels within easy reach but probably higher priced.

13 August: Some rates and availability have changed. If you intend taking a room then Panmurefield looks good for the cheap rate, and is close by, but these rates seem to be disappearing quickly so I suggest not waiting too long.

Unchanged
Travel Inn, Panmurefield (2 minutes away, postcode DD5 3UP) - promotional rooms are still available @ £29 prpn

Changed
Travel Inn, Ethiebeaton – promotional rooms are no longer available but (if any rooms are left) you can still claim £10 if you book 2 nights at normal (£49 prpn) rates:
Travelodge Dundee (West Kingsway - 9 miles away, postcode DD2 4TD) – now offering £22 for Fri 16 Oct, £42 for Sat 17.
Travelodge Dundee Central – now £39 for each day
Travel Inn, Camperdown (Dundee North - 8 miles away, postcode DD2 3SQ) - promotional rooms are available @ £29 prpn for Fri only, £49 for Sat

29 July: PTI are offering rooms at £29 if booked online well ahead of time. Go to  www.premierinn.com/pti/premieroffers.do
and search hotels for Dundee (Monifieth) for Ethiebeaton. When this hotel sells out try Dundee East for Panmurefield, which is just a few minutes away.

27 July: Nearest hotel is Premier Travel Inn which is adjacent to the venue and which offers £10 per discount on normal rates for a two-night stay (no discount for one night). This has changed since entry forms were printed - previously they offered discounts per night and on one night stays as well. Don't forget to mention you are playing in the chess event at David Lloyd Leisure. There are alternatives not too far away but if you don't mind a 15 minute drive for a big saving you could try Travelodge Dundee (West Kingsway, 10 miles) which is advertising  rooms from £19 prpn if booked well ahead - website
