Feedback 2009

Our responses:

Four respondents mentioned temperature - three thought it too chilly, one thought it ideal!. The issue last year was overheating, but the fault was fixed a short while ago. The venue manager told me that the room is slow to warm up and to cool down so had not put the heating on, expecting the sun and body-heat to be enough but not too much. I agree it stated a bit chilly but I think it warmed up - then again, I wasn't sitting still. I'd be happy to hear more views, but I'm sure we can get some early heating on next time;

One respondent wants a longer quickplay. The problem here is that we cannot finish later than 6 pm on Sat (the venue reserves the right to run an evening function). Previous feedback strongly supported a 10 am start and a 6pm (Sun) finish. So this only leaves changing the 36 in 90 element. There would need to be strong support for this to justify a change. If anyone else wants to see this change, do get in touch;

Tablecloths rucking was mentioned. Their use is popular but they did have to be straightened between rounds, so something for us to look at next year.

Thank you once again for creating such an enjoyable weekend. The attention to detail really does set
this event out from the crowd e.g. website,venue, advance communications on accomodation offers, even
name cards and table clothes make a difference. Personally I notice these things and truly appreciate
the effort. Hope to see you again next year (if not before).

I thoroughly enjoyed the wkend.  I played a lot of weekend chess during the 07-08 season in many venues in Scotland and England so I am pretty well qualified to comment on congress venues and organisation.  This was my first visit to Dundee since you restarted (5 years ago?).  I'd say Dundee was as good as they come - great venue and highly well organised.  I particularly liked immediate writing of results on charts as they came in, drinks on tap, name cards on table and prize-giving done so soon after last game finished. I will recommend the congress each time I go chess congressing.

Thanks very much for running the Dundee Congress. It was another successful event, and I cannot find fault with it. I am beginning to realise just how much work goes into one of these things, and really feel enormously grateful to you and others who help. And of course I am over the moon to have won a prize. Dundee really ought to have a congress, but it needed people to run it, and you have come up to the mark.  Thank you and long may it continue.

 Well done for running a great congress which I enjoyed.
A big team effort and the congress could not have run much better.
 I am looking forward to next years event.

Just thought I would let you know that I thought this weekends congress was superb. Really well run, great atmosphere and one of the best venues on the calender. It can be a bit of a trek for myself from Fife, especially with the current roadworks through Dundee, but well worth the effort.

Excellent tournament! well done again.

Norman and I (that's Steve in the wheelchair) would like to say we enjoyed both the tournament and the hotel a|nd both the playing conditions and the hotel couldn't be better - the food in the hotel was excellent and the rooms were fine. We hope to be back next year but that depends on the Braille Chess Association of Eire runt an event but be assured we will return!

Very impressed by your team's efficiency - results on website by 9pm !
